It sounds like he can't totally own up to what has actually happened. I once had an ex tell me he was KIND OF engaged to a new girl. Puleeze. At least your ex said he was sorry. It sounds like he doesn't want to hurt you any further. It sounds like he cares for you but doesn't see you as a girlfriend. Everyone has opinions. As much as it all hurts, remember that its just his opinion. If you're wondering if he made a mistake or if he will come back to you, yes there's a chance. But don't put your life on hold for it. If other guys ask you out, then go. Keep in mind that if he does come back, he ended things with you because he chose to be with another girl. Remember that.
