Biomass accumulates
Think of it as a pyramid
If the animals at the bottom consume a little then the next step up will have a little more in them because they just absorbed all of it
when you get to the top you will have the highest concentration in the entire food chain.
It Decreases
It Decreases
Energy and biomass decrease as you move up the food chain due to the second law of thermodynamics, which states that energy is lost as it moves through trophic levels. Organisms higher up in the food chain have less energy available to them compared to those lower down.
It decreases.
i believe the concentration becomes greater as you move up the food chain, or up the biomass pyramid, meaning that the highest level of consumer has the highest amount of toxicity. I always thought it was the other way around but I've done some research and that's what I found.
The Biomass decreases as the energy is used up on the way to the "top".
I think what you are referring to is a food chain, It is a series of energy steps from plants to animals and more animals in the form of food.
A pyramid of biomass or a pyramid of energy can show the total mass of living tissue at each trophic level. These pyramids illustrate the decreasing amount of biomass or energy available as you move up the food chain, with producers at the base and top-level consumers at the top.
what happens is that the energy that was to start with will be broken and half of that will go to continue the cycle because the energy that does not move on is being used by the producer, consumer or scavenger depending on which stage of the food chain or web it is on.
In the taiga ecosystem, energy flows from producers like trees to consumers such as herbivores and then to carnivores. Biomass refers to the total mass of living organisms within a given area, typically decreasing as you move up the food chain due to energy loss at each trophic level. In the taiga, the biomass is highest at the producer level (trees) and decreases as you move to higher trophic levels.

They accumulate as you move up the food chain because,They travel from organism to organism. For example,it may enter a food chain when it's absorbed by a plankton, and the pollutant is passed on to which ever organism eats the plankton, and it keeps on going on. By The Way,the person who just answered this is in gr.7 my name is ar$h!
