No. If police get called, you go to jail. Criminal law does not depend on the nationality or the status of the victim.
The guy who said that if you're an illegal immigrant with a misdemeanor, you get deported is wrong. It depends on which state you live in. Democratic states are more likely to let an illegal immigrant go simply by paying the bail charges. In a republican state, the illegal immigrant may not be so lucky (I don't know the answer for a republican state).
If you are convicted of a crime while in the country illegally, you would be deported and then not allowed to apply for naturalization.
No it will not be easier to get a green card. And how did they illegally marry? If they were issued a marriage license, and they did not lie on the application, they are legally married.
