im thinking the question is what are the advantages to communal living? I am a single mom who has three kids, two boys, 16 and 13 and a daughter, who is 7. I have moved in with my sister and my best friend. They both have kids too, @ 7 yrs old. We share a big 7 bed room house, everyone has their own bedroom, the little girls share, and the smaller boys. The advantages are: we share cooking duties, cleaning duties, we have set it up so none of us have to pay for child care. We all take turns driving the kids to school, and picking them up. We divvy up grocery shopping, and cooking and the cleaning. We save on heating bills, groceries utilities, gas, and child care. We also have the support of each other, and it is enough that we have each other. I think this only works because we planned ahead and really discussed things before hand. Rent, bills and cleaning, so on....so forth. We are also all three really good at communicating, and good at following the rules we have all set. This is a great situation for all of us, and if you can do it with people you love and trust, go for it! It sucks having to do it alone in this world right now!
