Family name 'Kommers'As far as I can tell it's primarily of Dutch origin. Unfortunately, I have less information on this name than on the others that people have recently asked about.

Well, first of all, I think we need to trace the name Kommers back to the 1800's. At least, my lineage indicates the family came from Germany around that time. They were Germans but lived a period in Russia territory (Volhynia) with thousands and thousands of German families. After this period they started to come to Americas.

Some histories telling the Kommers were dutch and needed to leave Netherlands in the Protestant Reformation period (because they were protestans) makes sense, but were never proved. I've never found any evidence linking the Germans Kommers to the dutch Kommers. Of course, I'd love to know if somebody already did it.
