"Love-Hate" is the most commonly applied. On the one hand, nobody get elected without the media and on the other, the media are always looking after their own circulation, not the official's. The idea media from the official's perspective would constantly feature his name and face (and say wonderful things about him) during the election and then somehow forget he existed and certainly never, never look into his private life or his spending habits. From the media point of view the ideal candidate is one who provides them with a constant stream of juicy scandals.
