But I would say that, for one, knowing your boundaries and how you should be treated is completely different than intellectual knowledge. A women could come from an abusive home, go to college, get a degree, and still marry an abusive man. Not because she isn't intelligent, but rather because she never learned how a healthy relationship should function. Emotional knowledge is completely different than intellectual. I sat in a college classroom and learned about abuse and still got into a bad relationship because my childhood did not teach me how to act. It's like taking a class in a classroom about flying an airplane and then being expected to fly without any help or support whatsoever. However, I would estimate more woman who are battered are not educated, not because they aren't just as smart as other women, but rather because many women who are battered come from homes that would not help them with college or support them in getting loans.
