While others do all of the household chores, child care and cooking. When one person is away from the home and working all day, it only seems respectful that they come home to an orderly home. And, that conveniences are taken care of for them by the non-working party. However, each person should remain in charge of their own self. A stay at home wife should be helpful and keep the home in a way that she would if she were single. But, the husband should also behave in a way that he would if it were up to him to take care of himself.
However, if roles are not negotiated and understood by both parties, it will lead to resentment and possible break down in the relationship.
For instance, I enjoy keeping the house clean and taking care of my significant. However, I hate taking out the trash. Moreover, I hate having to point out that the trash needs taking out.
