If I had it to do all over again I would get a responsible guy to move in with me (one, hopefully, that would have a girlfriend.) It's possible he could have slept with one or both of them, but still, that's none of your business because he was your ex. Women are daunting at the best of times, and it sounds like he's had enough of listening to two women. Cut the guy some slack! If you are still in love with him go slow and easy, start dating (don't let him move in with you) and see where it goes from there. Don't even bother to ask him questions about what went on with his two roommates because you will never believe the truth even if he told you.
