The ex probably believes that the relationship is salvageable, and for that reason refuses to accept life as it is. This is unfortunate for both people as it is now time for everyone to get on with their individual lives and start anew with fresh beginnings again.

The main thing you need to do is ignore him. Obsessed people respond to rejection differently than other people. Any response from you is seen by him as good, so your best method is not to respond at all. This is tough to do ( I know I had to do it) but it is the best way to have him stop. Get Gavin De Becker's book "The Gift of Fear" In chapters 8 and 11 he covers this in his book. The rest of the book is also good to read, so get it and it will help you.
