Try avoiding him as well as not accepting or making any contact with him. It is up to you and your friends to tell him to leave you alone. If you find he just will not lay off then you will have to tell someone such as teachers, guardians, parents or even if you have to if it gets out of hand or becomes worse the police.

You may need to get a restraining order. In the meantime though, do not take chances. Quite often, when an ex won't leave their former partner alone, they do become violent. So pay close attention to your surroundings at all times, and if you notice anything suspicious, report it to the police!

Tell you ex that it is over and not to call you, come to your home or work place, and not to call your family/friends to try to get info about you. I would also change phone numbers, that way s/he can't call you, as well as getting a new email account.

After you do this though, you have to be consistent. Do not agree to talk to your ex one day, then the next day tell him/her "I said leave me alone." That will only send mixed signals, and will give your ex the false impression that they have another chance with you. No means no in this situation, too. So once you tell your ex you do not want to see or talk to him or her again, you need to stick to it.
