Depends on whose name the bill is in. If it's partially in your name, you have to pay it (to preserve your credit) and get the money from the roomate... do this by writing a politely phrased request. Set up a payment plan (on paper) and have them sign it. $20 bucks a month if they're short on cash is reasonable.
