All existing New Hampshire civil unions were automatically converted to marriages on January 1, 2011. You now have a marriage and you can end it using the same divorce procedure as anyone else. The same residency requirement applies.
If you live in a place where same-sexmarriage is legal, then you can initiate divorce proceedings immediately, assuming you meet all of the requirements of the law, including the minimum period of residency in your state (which is usually about a year). In other words, if your state recognizes same-sexmarriage then you can file for divorce immediately, unless you just recently moved to your state. If you live in a place that does not recognize same-sexmarriage, then you cannot divorce there. You must move to a place that does recognize it and wait until you have met the minimum residency requirement, which is usually a year. One exception is Washington DC. The District of Columbia anticipated that many couples would come from out of state to marry there and then return to their home state. DC law permits anyone who married in DC to divorce there, even if they live in another state. So, if you married in DC, then you can file divorce papers without any delay.

First, I AM NOT A LAWYER!! But I did do research on this when my son was going through his divorce. If I remember correctly...if the marriage was performed in Las Vegas, the divorce can be granted immediately. If not, the party filing must be a resident of Las Vegas for six weeks and must be able to provide proof of residence for at least six weeks. Again, I AM NOT A LAWYER!! I am going by memory and things may have changed. There are lots of good resources on Vegas divorce law on the web. Good luck.
no
Anyone can contest a divorce. Just because a divorce is contested does not mean a divorce will not be granted, it just means it is going to be a longer and more expensive process.
same as you divorce anyone else: see a lawyer to get started
Your lawyer should have sent you the paperwork showing the divorce as completed. The divorce paperwork is a public record and is available to anyone down at the courthouse too.
Does anyone know or really care
