Guy Fawkes was a key figure in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, which aimed to assassinate King James I and blow up the House of Lords. He was part of a group of conspirators, including Robert Catesby, Thomas Wintour, and John Wright, who sought to end Protestant rule in England and restore Catholic leadership. The plot was ultimately foiled, leading to Fawkes' capture and execution, and November 5th is now commemorated as Guy Fawkes Night in the UK.

Guido Fowkes, or Fawkes, was one of the conspirators in the Gunpowder Plot to blow up the English parliament in 1603. He was caught as he was going to light the fuse to 36 barrels of gunpowder, and was tortured to try to make him reveal the names of the other conspirators.
