• A person who is needy is fragile and they do not have the self confidence or experience in life (mainly because they are shy or afraid of rejection) and tend to choose a partner that is more controlling because they feel safer. If the two should end up having a relationship eventually as that individual matures they are unhappy with the controlling factor in the relationship and seek more independence and the relationship may dissolve. When an individual has meets someone by preference they are confident and chemistry between the two clicks.

When the needs or circumstances change, the foundation of the relationship can easily crumble. In contrast, relationships based on preference are built on shared interests, values, and genuine connection.
