I believe the short answer is unbelief. God has promised a son to Abraham, and that this son would come through Sarah, even though Sarah was advanced in years. Either Sarah didn't believe God at all, or she didn't believe the promised child had to come through her. Isaac was the son born of the promise, through Sarah as God had promised. The first comment is quite correct. It has also been discovered that this was an ancient practice and so her actions were not without precedent even though prompted by unbelief. Discovery of this ancient custom underlines the social 'fitness' of the Genesis record of history as opposed to the Documentary view which puts the composition much later when such social customs would have been unknown.

Who are Abrahams and Sarah sons in the bible in Genses?

Abraham actually had two sons, Sarah only had one. Let me explain. God had appeared to Abraham, who was called Abram back then, and told him that he was going to have a baby. Of course, Abram was unsure about this since he and his wife were each about one hundred years old. Sarah, who was called Sarai back then, heard this and she didn't believe it. So, she told Abram to take her slave, Hagar, and go have a baby. Back then, that wasn't considered a problem. So, Hagar and Abram had a baby named Ishmael. Much later on, Abram and Sarai had a baby and they named him Isaac. They were later renamed Abraham and Sarah.

How did Abram deceive the Egyptian king?

According to Genesis 12:13, Abram feared that the king would kill him in order to have sex with his wife. Abram somehow knew that the king would not kill her brother for the same reason, so told the king that she was only his sister. For the same reason, he successfully deceived the king of Gerar by saying that his by now quite elderly wife really was his sister.

Who was Ishmael?

As Abraham wife Sarah was baron Ishmael was then born through Hagger the slave .Additional Answer:Hagar was more than just the female handmaid or as you put it "slave" of Sarah, she is historically known to be an Egyptain princess and daughter of a pharaoh. Please take note of the following:-)-In Rabbinical Literature:According to the Midrash (Gen. R. xlv.), Hagar was the daughter of Pharaoh, who, seeing what great miracles God had done for Sarah's sake (Gen. xii. 17), said: "It is better for Hagar to be a slave in Sarah's house than mistress in her own."_ It is then clear from this Rabbinical Literature that Princess Hagar was of a Kingly line and not just of any one as to say" a slave," but of a Pharaoh father, king of Egypt! It must also mean that her son Ismael must have gone on to become a king in his own right, for the scripture clearly says he begot twelve princes and goes on to name each prince.

If you have proof of adultery, you can sue your husband for divorce. In the US, the days of suing a mistress for "alienation of affection" are gone. You cannot obtain a money judgment for emotional damages caused by your husband's infidelity. No judge will order the mistress to pay you.

Should a mistress tell husband is cheating?

Most mistress' do not tell the wife she is cheating with the wife's husband and the only reason for that would be to pour salt into an open wound. Mistress' are losers and will never be at the top of the list in any man's life. He may take her on vacation, dine out, go to the theater, etc., but he will generally go back to his wife or, if she finds out and they divorce the percentage is very low the husband will continue a relationship or marry his mistress.

What are the two negative things Abraham did in the bible?

Abraham was a liar (always told people that Sarai was not his wife) and a fornicator (he slept with his wife's maid servant), but one of his biggest downfalls, being the father of faith, was not believing God when God promised him a child from his wife Sarai (later Sarah) he didn't take God at his word, instead he tried to get a child from his wife's maid servant.
