They see an attractive woman and don't feel like they could get her attention in a positive way, by meeting her and talking to her. So they try to get attention from her by abusive behavior in a negative way. It is just like children that try and get attention any way they can. If they don't get attention for behaving properly, then they try and get attention for behaving badly.
