Why do boys like girls and girls like boys?

It's genetically programmed in humans' bodies to yearn for sex and love. If one is heterosexual, they are attracted to the opposite sex. If one is homosexual, they are attracted to the same sex. There's really not much you can do if you fall in love; you can't help it. :)

There are lots of reasons but one of the more popular theories is that when a boy is in the mother's womb, the mother's body sees the male fetus as a foreign body, and tries to femenize it with female hormones. The more babies she has, the better her body gets at the process. Interesting STAT: Every older brother a man has increases his chance of being gay by 33%. Older brothers and/or sisters has no impact on the likelihood of a girl turning out a lesbian.

Sexuality is likely determined by the combination of a myriad of other factors, including environmental, biological, and genetic factors.

Personally, I find it likely that a combination of inherited genes is necessary for a predisposition toward homosexuality, but certain events in the environment of a child either as a fetus, or in the prepubescent years can act as a trigger for the development of non-normative sexuality.

Same reason so many girls love the idea of guys liking other guys. There's something odd about the human nature where we are highly attracted to that which we feel we can't have. The "off-limits"-ness of it is what makes the concept so fun and appealing.

Most say it is for the same reason some boys are attracted to girls. They claim it's just who you're attracted to you can't help it.

Others say that sexual orientation is merely a social construct and is a combination of predisposition, nurture, experiences, and choice. For instance, there are gay persons who say they chose to become gay. A celebrity said that recently. One such person who hosts a website and her friends got PFLAG to change their official position from it being inborn to say that nobody knows. Some people believe that there are multiple etiologies to being gay, ranging from genetics, to childhood trauma, to peer pressure, and to choice.

Also, lets consider this. Suppose that some of the alternative theories are right and lets say gayness can be caused by external factors some time after birth. One problem is that if that is the case, the very behaviors people express to others may then drive them closer to gay behavior. It happens in other realms. The more racist the parents, the more likely their child will marry someone of another ethnic group. The parents loved their beliefs more than their children, and the children rebelled. If someone has their ego tied around their behavior, then they will see targeting the behavior as targeting them, and that will only drive them even closer to the behavior that others dislike. Lets suppose someone has a very low self-esteem by no fault of their own, and lets suppose they develop a ritual or behavior as a means to make up for their self-esteem, just to feel what other people normally feel about themselves. It would seem like cruelty to that person to take away the one thing that helps them to function.

Regardless of how you take what was said above, the biggest point to take away from this is that some people are attracted to members of the same sex. The least we can do is respect them as people and not complicate their lives.

During puberty, hormones change and it means that boys and girls get attracted, not that they know it.
