This is a link to a discussion of self injury and why people do it:
http://www.palace.net/~llama/psych/why.html It has to do with the way a person has programmed their brain to deal with stress. In a sense, it is a coping mechanism. They are called self-injurers, and self-injuring is not limited to just cutting (although that is the most common practice). People may bruise themselves, burn themselves, obsess with tattooing, or simply starve themselves. When the body is put under that kind of stress, as in the case with cutting, the brain produces endorphins creating a temporary euphoria. It makes the person feel soothed. This is a quick high that creates a false sense of release, making the person feel like the problem has been dealt with. Self-injurers may do it because they feel like they can't communicate with people, can't connect with people, have had past traumatic experiences, poor family relations, or for vanity purposes such as the attention. It is regarded by many psychologists as an addiction just like gambling because the brain reacts in a similar way.

Tax Cut Home Business is great for self-employed people, and can help you work deductions.
The psychological term for people who cut themselves is self-harm or non-suicidal self-injury. These behaviors are often used as coping mechanisms to deal with emotional distress or overwhelming feelings. It is important for individuals engaging in self-harm to seek professional help and support.
Some people cut themselves, but that is a dangerous and self destructive behavior. Frankly, you'll probably get cut at some point without even trying, and it will probably happen somewhat quickly.
There isn't one single reason for why people cut. Some do it to cope with stresses like a divorce or a relationship ending, because they are angry, or because they are depressed, are being abused, or have low self-esteem.
