This happens sometimes during a depressive period in life. It usually, ironically, is a reaction to caring too much about something. When we get involved in caring about something or loving someone and then we lose that thing or that person, we can often react by trying to insulate ourselves and care about nothing... thinking, on some subconscious level that this insulation will protect us from pain.
... it does protect from pain to a certain extent. But it also protects from joy and happiness. The truth is that risk is part of life... part of love, part of everything. And insulating yourself means that you DO care about yourself... you're trying to protect yourself from pain. But it isn't a very good way to do it, because blocking out all feeling leaves us unable to have normal relationships or interactions in society.
See your doctor if you are unable to feel emotion. He or she might be able to help with medications that help with clinical depression. The good thing is that the numb feeling is almost always temporary... and if you work with your doctor, and work at recovering, you will. The only people who don't eventually come out of it are those who don't want to.
yes hippies did care about the earth because they would gather around together and ring a bell for peace in earth, but of course some "some" hippies were evil that they didn't care about anything or anyone except for themselves and there hippie populations
No, the reflexive pronoun 'themselves' does not agree with the antecedent subject pronoun 'you'.The correct use of the reflexive pronoun 'reflects' back to the antecedent subject in person, number, and gender. Examples:You don't care for yourself. (second person, singular)You don't care for yourselves. (second person, plural)They don't care for themselves. (third person, plural)

One case where you may be required to discharge duty of care in order to protect the person from harming themselves is in the case of an Emergency Department. In this case the Emergency Department might have to discharge duty of care by transferring it to a facility where the person can get long term treatment. This may also occur with an elderly person whose care is transferred to a long term care facility to keep them from falling, or otherwise harming themselves.
