Why is adults heart rate different to children?

Here are some normal pulse rates in beats per minute:

newborn 120 - 160

1 - 12 months 80 - 140

1 - 2 years 80 - 130

2 - 6 years 75 - 120

6 - 12 years 75 - 110

12 years - adults 60 - 100

adult athletes 40 - 70

because they are different sizes and they either use less or more energy which give them a higher metobolic rate

Yes there is a difference. A an adults pulse rate is generally between 60-80 beats per minute (average 72bpm). A child's heart beats much faster.
