Actually that is, usually by living together and telling others that they are now married.

Rituals are important because it serve several purposes such as rituals attach your emotions to a particular behavior, they provide structure to your exchanges, they improve your emotional engagement during an interaction, ritual help you create a mood or emotion that you desire, and also create a strong sense of "we" and a feeling of togetherness.
