Can be many reasons but I think the main one is that the child wants more freedom to do what he wants and the parents either knows or think he is not ready to handle it. Another reasons is also bad communication. If it's something that is often discussed people tend to be deaf for new arguments or maybe you just caught them at a bad time. The teen is supposed to break away from their parent. It's preparation for adulthood. The sometimes hard thing for the parent is to know how much to let go and when.

Conflict between the parent and a teenage child is very common and natural. Teenagers at a certain age tend to think they know more than the parent and their hormone levels are really high and if the parent doesn't know how to control their anger, it will just make things worse.
