Whether or not Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students for each subject is an issue of personal opinion.

However, there is no reason in terms of performance or ability why males and females cannot excel equally in every field of study. Eleanor Maccoby and Carol Jacklin did extensive research into the evidence of differences between genders and eliminated the existence of all differences save for two. In general, females tend to have greater language ability than males, and males tend to have better visual/spacial ability than females.

I'm not sure why you believe that universities accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject, because that information is incorrect. In Psychology, for example, most programs accept around twice as many females as males. Other fields of study such as medicine and engineering may be male dominated and many fields of study are roughly even between the sexes.
