Why would a man lie about still being married if he is not with his wife?

Its funny, I ran across this and I myself would like to know the answer. I have been friends with this guy 4 years. We attend the same school and had class with each other. I was pregnant and had left their father..and he volunteered to be with me while I had him..(I didnt allow it). When I moved going on a year ago helped me move and he was there everyday visiting and checking up on us. He baked all kinds of goodies and cooked for me on a regular but he never crossed the line. So, one day I decided to share my innermost feelings for him..and at the same time he decided that he wanted to tell me something that he felt he should have been told me which was the fact that he was married. He still remains my bestfriend...but I love him dearly. I pray about this all the time bc I dont believe in adultery nor do I like feeling this way towards him. Actually, I feel like he should have been wearing his ring. I also feel like he should have been honest in the beginning about his status reguardless of them being seperated. I am a single mother of 2 handsome little men. I am abstinent and he knows these things. Why would a man lie about something like this? I was honest from the beginning. He knows what kind of woman I am because he was over here everyday. Some times I feel like I want to slap the hell out of him for not being honest...I hate liars....:(((

For the same reason that anyone lies about anything. Because the truth isn't convenient. He wants to impress.

Many men fantasize, particularly when talking to women to whom they're attracted. If they meet a woman in a bar, certain men find it to dull to tell a woman that they're a 45 year old postal clerk with 3 kids and mortgage. So they tell them they're a 35 year old single race car driver. It makes them feel better.

The good news is that the vast majority of men are decent human beings who wouldn't dream of spinning huge lies to impress a stranger. The bad news is that there are some creeps out there who think nothing of it.

If someone has lied to you about something as fundamental as their age and their marital status, you cannot trust them to ever tell you the truth about anything. Its dissappointing and upsetting but move on and put it down to bad luck that you met one of the creepy ones. If you try to work through it be aware that some way down the line he'll be in another bar, telling lies to some other woman. You're better well clear.
