It sounds as though he's wanting to keep you on the back burner, in case things with his current girlfriend don't work out. It's not respectful to either his current girlfriend or to you. This guy is your ex for a good reason. He's playing with both of your heads. Maybe he wants to keep you on the back burner if his new relationship doesnt work out. Does his new gal know he's calling to check on you and how insensitive that he calls and asks for help with his relationship. Is he a man or a mouse, cant he handle his own business....Why not suggest that you talk directly to the girlfriend to help out and see what he says, he will probably stutter and make up some bullcrap excuse of why you cant talk to her, then you have your answer.
