Well from my experience sometimes that doesnt always work... So what i would do is tell them that it doesnt feel right but you still want to be friends and if she doesnt talk to you start talking to her and make her realize that you still care about her and that you actually do want to still be friends with her and that you just werent saying it to make it seem less harsh
