Elite Charitable Trust won the Limca Book of Records for creating the world's longest painting. The record was announced at a meeting with the press held here on Aug 16, 2007. The painting measured 4.508 Km. It was completed in six hours by 2,160 students in Coimbatore, said K.Pradeep Kumar, Founder and President of Elite Circle. It had broken the record for the longest painting in the world, which was held by Japan for a painting which measured 3.8 Km, said V.V.R.Murty, Marketing Manager of Limca Book of Records and Authenticator of the award. The students who participated in the painting were from Kongu Vellalar Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Vigneswara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The canvas had a width of 14.5 inches.
