It definitely is.. The entire story has symbolism left and right. The scene where jay and daisy Were Drowned in intimacy as the sign in the pool focused on Scorpio= the water or emotion sign of deep intimacy. Before jay gets in the pool and is shot the fish in the pool are Grouped on the signs before swarming in the direction of libra\air or thought.before the motion toawrds libra one medium sized group layed directly in between Libra and Virgo. The 2nd group and the largest were somewhat scattered over virgo/earth or restriction. & the third group Which was just one fish who stood alone at the heart of leo /fire or aggression. Very deep symbolism shown as jay gets into the pool and before getting shot he is looking in the zodiac wheel. Symbolic indeed!
In "The Great Gatsby," there are a couple symbols. The Valley of Ashes is one since it is seen as both a symbol of transcendence and as lifeless darkness. The other prominent symbol is the green light as it comes from Daisy's home and represents Gatsby's longing to be with her, so it claims that he believes in that light.
