It is a free site, and you shouldn't have to worry toomuch about predators, but it is far from the great community it once was. Here's why:

• The site has tons of thinly-veiled porn disguised as M-rated stories. If you don't want to see porn, then make sure you stay clear of anything rated M. If you must read M-rated stories, avoid stories with summaries that contain words such as "smut," "lemon," "sexy," "yuri," "yaoi," or "rapefic" at all costs, or you will end up seeing porn.
• The owners of the site don't care about it, so it's not really moderated. It's hard to report someone, and once you do, they are slow. And if you e-mail them, you'll win the lottery before they reply.
• A lot of cyberbullying goes on, and the moderators claim that the reason they don't do anything about it is because it "violates the bullies'/flamers' freedom of speech." But it's really because they're lazy.
• It's quickly becoming a haven for trolls, too. Almost half the users are trolls.
• It's getting really hard to find good stories.

It can be fun, it really can, you just have to be cautious.
