it really depends on how much you read. i mean, if you just read a few minutes, then i'd say it's just a hobby. if you go hours reading fanfics (which i do; i am so addicted), then i'd say you're addicted. like me! :p

Yes, some people on the site can be very intense and obsessed with updating their stories. Which in turn causes them to get reviews. The reviews help feed the obsession and with each new review the author gets a high. Also some people just love seeing their favorite pairings together (Ex: Edward/Bella), they will either read or write about them.

Writing though should be for fun and not reviews, and it all depends on the person themselves.

Just like any other addiction - cut back slowly until you're over it. Say you spend 2 hours a day reading fan fiction ... cut back to 1 hour for a week or so, then half an hour, then 15 minutes. Then, if you want to, stop entirely or just keep it at 15 minutes.

If you mean you're addicted to writing it, try changing the characters and write your own fiction so you can actually sell it!
