Here's an example of Satire that I came up with for a school project

The Water Cooler

We start with just another Monday morning at Capitalism Inc. The employees have gathered around the usual meeting place, where the majority of time spent, is wasted.

The first to begin the conversation, as usual, is Rudolph. "So Darnell, you watch the game last night?"

"Whenever sports are mentioned, why is it that I am defaulted to?" Darnell responded quickly.

Rudolph, with a rather confused look, answered, "Well you know… it's because­-" he gestured toward Darnell.

Darnell, looking affronted, interjected, "Rudy, you think just because I'm black that I watch every game?"

"Well I just thought…" his mind was desperately searching for a new topic, " you KNOW that I hate being called Rudy. My name is Rudolph, nothing else," replied Rudolph, glad in the fact that another subject had been found.

Molly, seeing that this conversation could quickly spin out of control, continued with the new conversation, "Rudolph is a very interesting name. How again did you get it? Are your ancestors from Germany?"

"No, I was born on Christmas," Rudolph sullenly replied, knowing the inevitable next question.

"So you're telling me that your parents named you after a reindeer?" Darnell questioned humorously. "If they like Christmas so much, why didn't they name you something normal, like Christopher or Christian? Now that would make sense."

"It's because my parents, like myself, are atheist. They wanted to give me a festive name that ties with their beliefs," stated Rudolph matter-of-factly.

"So you're telling me that your parents believe in a flying red-nosed reindeer?" said Darnell, not even attempting to conceal a smirk.

Feeling that again Rudolph was on the losing end of another conversation, Molly intervened, "That's so nice that everyone can have their own beliefs. I think it's just wonderful of your parents to have chosen such a festive name." Trying to further defuse the situation, she yet again transferred the focus to another subject. "Did you hear? Joyce and Raul from accounting just got an apartment together. It's supposed to have the nicest view of a park."

"So those two finally got married huh?" commented Darnell nonchalantly.

Rudolph, feeling that here was a subject with which he could finally outdo Darnell, aggressively countered, "Just because two people are moving in together does not mean they must be married. In the society we live in now, such relations are the norm. We are adults, and we can cohabitate with whomever we chose. Such ideas that one must be-", Molly tried to interject, but Rudolph plowed on, "-married are not only wrong, but infantile. I myself am currently in a relationship similar to the situation of Joyce and Raul," finished Rudolph with a feeling of victory.

" Well…, you know Rudolph…, Joyce and Raul… actually were recently married," Molly timidly added. Rudolph instantly went from triumph, to the darkest feelings of despair. When would the opportunity finally arise when he could come away from The Water Cooler with a moral victory?

"Good for them," replied Darnell happily. "So much for your little rant Rudy, and since when were you two allowed to get married in this state?" questioned Darnell. The look on Rudolph's face can only be described as such, >:(.

Molly, yet again trying to salvage what was left of this morning's exchange, knew that when all else fails, the weather could be relied upon when the need for safe conversational subject was dire. "Well, at least the weather has been nice as of late," sighed Molly. "It's finally warmed up a bit."

"Yup, a warm day like today is always welcome during this time of year," Darnell agrees appreciatively.

Finally, a topic that none, save Al Gore, could best him in. Rudolph went in for the kill shot, "Welcome? Welcome?!? You think the warming of our Earth's atmosphere is welcome? Do you realize that if the trend of so called 'welcome warming' continues, our planet will be rendered uninhabitable to all organisms by the year 2050!?! If the human race continues its parasitic consumption of all the resources of this planet, we will rue the day when Mother Earth wreaks her vengeance upon this ungrateful species. The thing that's even more unnerving is the fact that-" all conversation was put on hold as Ms. Rockefeller, the primary share holder of Capitalism Inc. stepped into the office.

"Am I paying you minimum wage to stand around MY water cooler and gossip? I believe the answer is 'no'. Now let's get to work people, Time is money," booms Ms. Rockefeller authoritatively. All employees gathered around The Water Cooler slink off in the familiar route back to their cubicles.

As Molly moves to her desk, she wonders how such seemingly 'safe' conversation matter could turn out to be so volatile. Then the thought, "And it's only Monday."
