"Out and out" means total; utter; complete. So, out and out lies would mean that there wasn't any truth behind what the person said.
I presume you meant to ask, "Has any team in a seven game series been down three games to one, taken the series to seven games, and then lost that last game?" 1967 World Series, the Red Sox lost to the Cards 7-2. 1972 World Series, the Reds lost to the A's 3-2. 1992 NL Championship Series, Pirates lost to the Braves 3-2. 2008 AL Championship Series, Red Sox lost to the Rays 3-1. There may be others I was unable to find or notice. Or maybe you meant to ask, "Has any team in a seven game series been down three games to NONE, taken the series to seven games, and then lost that last game?" The fact is that no team, other than the Boston Red Sox in 2004, have been down three games to none and then taken the series byond six games. Only two have even extended the series TO six games. The Red Sox took it to seven games and then won that seventh game.
It's easy to compute. The New York Yankees have appeared in more World Series (40) than any other team. It's simple to establish that they've won and lost the most games in Series history.
The New York Yankees have lost the world series a total of thirteen times, more than any other franchise.
An alethiometer, also known as the golden compass, is a device in Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series that can answer any question posed to it. It does so by pointing to symbols on its dial, which the reader must interpret to discern the truth.
