She and Tony took the hood off of the Plymouth(the car) and they used it as a sled to try to get to some cabin Tony found earlier in the book. Then they got lost, then found a "camp site"(if you can call it that it was some picnic tables and a men's bathroom). so they rested for one more day then followed some sort of path and made it to some lady's house and she got them to the hospital. Cindy went home quicker than Tony because Tony had a broken leg.
