Once the two men are stuck in the interlopers, they initially continue their feud, trading insults and threats. However, as they face the prospect of impending death, they begin to reflect on their past actions and seek reconciliation. The experience ultimately leads them to understanding and empathy for each other.

At the end of the story "The Interlopers" by Saki, the interlopers refer to wolves that approach the trapped enemies, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym. The wolves are perceived by the men as interlopers because they are intruding on the men's feud and are likely to attack them.
