How do you know if your book is good?

You can never predict the future, but here are some ways you can increase the odds of your novel doing well:

• Write the best novel you can write - see the links for more advice on this
• Know the market - find out who the five best-selling authors in your genre are, and read their latest two books to see how well you need to write in order to compete with them
• Read - the more you read, the more you understand how other authors write
• Write - the more you practice, the better you become

Have your friends, teacher, mom, dad, etc. read the book and tell you if they like it. if you have more people who like it than not like it then it is probably pretty good. if you have more people who don't like it then...

maybe you should choose a different career or a different hobby.

If you truly like it, from the heart, and think its worth a shot in the world, well go for it. Your opinion is important. Now I realize most artists or authors don't like their own work and they see so many mistakes and others think it's phenomenal. But if you think it's got a chance you just go and put it out there. I'm going to, I'm mostly doing art (like drawing, sometimes music) but I'm writing a book and when I'm done I will not be turned down. And if you're put down just keep on trying no matter how large the number of No's becomes.
