Calpurnia has been working for the Finch family for a long time—since before Scout was born. She is a trusted and respected member of the Finch household.
Calpurnia works for the Finch family. She cooks their meals and stuff like that. I guess you could call her a servant? She's been with the family for a very long time, ever since mrs. Finch passed away I think.
No Calpurnia is a great women with a big roll in the story she is an example of what it means to be a women she takes care of two white kids very well and set a good example on how to be a roll model.
Atticus and Calpurnia have known each other for many years, as she has been the Finch family's housekeeper for a long time and has helped raise Atticus's children, Scout and Jem. They have a close and longstanding relationship built on mutual respect and understanding.

Calpurnia's church is much simpler than the church that the Finch's attend and Scout discovers "linin'" which is when one person sings a line of the hymn and the rest of the congregation repeats it. They do this because most of them can't read even if they could afford hymnals. Sykes will "sweat" the money out of the congregation keeping them in church until enough money has been raised by the congregation. After church Scout finds out that Calpurnia was taught to read by Miss Maudie's aunt, Miss Buford, and that's why she speaks so well.Also- Scout learns that Calpurnia can be a lady and she looks up to her.

In Chapter 14 of Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird", Aunt Alexandra tells Atticus that she doesn't think that he needs dismiss his maid, Calpurnia, from her duties. Atticus tells her that he sees no reason to fire her because she is a part of the family now and the children love her.
Lulu is a lady from the church who informs Calpurnia that the kids, Jem and Scout, are at the courthouse. She tells Calpurnia in a harsh tone that the children should not have been brought to the trial.
