Scout is 8, nearly 9 and Jem is 12
That's on my study guide tooo!
Atticus, Jem and Sheriff Tate hid Boo Radley from Scout's view in chapter 16 of To Kill a Mockingbird. They did not want Scout to see Boo as they were concerned about how she would react.
In the beginning of the book which is in the 1930's during the great depression, Jem is 6 years old and Scout is 10. However, as the book progresses towards the end, i believe that Jem is 16 and scout is 20.
Chapter 16
He warns her not to lose her virginity too young
In Chapters 15 and 16 of "To Kill a Mockingbird," Scout and Jem visit Calpurnia's African American church and are met with some tension from the community. They witness the strong sense of faith and unity among the churchgoers, despite facing discrimination and hardship. This experience helps Scout and Jem gain a deeper understanding of racial dynamics in Maycomb.
The Jail Scene in to Kill A Mockingbird was in the town square of Maycomb County, Alabama. It is described as 'near enough' to Tyndal's hardware for Jem, Scout, and Dill to see what was going on. Also in the town square is the bank, the Jitney Jungle, the post office (where Jem and Scout wait to race to welcome Atticus home everyday after work), and the store where Jem bought Scout the baton.

In Chapter 16 of "To Kill a Mockingbird," Scout wonders about the truth behind Boo Radley and his mysterious persona. She begins to question the rumors and gossip surrounding him and seeks to better understand Boo as a person rather than a figure of fear. This curiosity leads her on a path to empathy and compassion for Boo.
That he is making her fell more grown up.....idk if that is correct but that is what people have told me
Aunt Alexanda appears in many chapters in To Kill A Mockingbird but the main ones she is when she first moves into the house which is at the end of Chapter 12 on page 126 and throught Chapter 16
Probably due to the Great War. Miss Maudie is a childhood friend of Uncle Jack. Uncle Jack is Atticus' younger brother so, in 1933, Uncle Jack and Miss Maudie were about 40 - 45 years of age. The U.S entered the Great War in 1917 - 16 years before the time of this novel. Miss Maudie may have been 24-29 years of age and so too her husband. When we encounter Miss Maudie in chapter 5 she attacks nut grass in her yard like the Second Battle of Marne fought in 1918. Is this reference coincidental?
