Ender has skills and insights that set him apart from the rest. He grasps all the tactical and strategic options in a way that is beyond any of his friends - and does it intuitively rather than having to be taught it.

He is the youngest commander ever - many of his friends are older than he is. He is in some ways like the really, really smart kid who got promoted to a higher grade and had to leave all his chronological peers behind.
