In Pride and Prejudice how does Elizabeth react when Mr Collins proposes to Charlotte Lucas?

Elizabeth sees Darcy as a proud and arrogant guy in the beginning and she is not afraid to voice out her differing opinions on the various topics and this leads to the intelligent exchanges between them. Also, due to Elizabeth's prejudice towards Darcy, she often make witty remarks to 'criticise' Darcy.

Elizabeth is very close to Jane and she often discuss things over with her since Jane is the most sensible one out of his sisters. She also gives and takes advices from Jane.

Elizabeth sees Mr Collins as a foolish character and she is often amused by his character. She didn't have much feelings towards him, that is why she rejected his proposal.

Elizabeth is many things to many people: * To Mr Darcy, she is a beautiful woman with a strong character that sets her apart from other women and makes him fall in love with her despite her lower social status. * To her sister Jane, she is a comfort. * To her mother, she is rather trying, especially when she refuses to marry Mr Collins. * To her father, she is the only member of the family with whom he can have a sensible conversation. * To Mr Bingley, she is pretty, charming and lively, particularly in his eyes because of his feelings for Jane and his awareness of how close his beloved is to Elizabeth. * To Bingley's sisters, she is too independent and free-willed. * To Charlotte Lucas (later Mrs Collins) she is a true friend and, during her loveless marriage, a lifeline. * To Lady Catherine de Bourgh, she is an opinionated, selfish, headstrong girl. * To her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs Gardiner, she is a good girl who deserves to find happiness in life. Elizabeth expected Charlotte to refuse Mr.Collins , but when she hears that Charlotte accepted him , she is at first angry and hurt . But then later on she confronts Charlotte and pleads with her to refuse him , but Charlotte is determined to marry Mr.Collins , if not for love , then ateast for her personal security.
