they started working. they made of couple of friends. just as things started to clear up, a suspicous woman with no name cam up. she was curley's wife and she was trouble. she started talking to lennie alone one dayand started pushing his buttons. it wasn't in lennie's control, and he started shaking her rapidly. because of lennie's strength, he did kill Curley's wife. wHEN CURLEY AND THE OTHERS INCLUDING gEORGE FOUND OUT, THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS LENNIE AND WENT AFTER HIM. George knew if they had found him, they would either hang him or sent him to a mental institution. both were pure torture, so slowly while explaining the "tending to the rabbits" story to lennie, George shot him.

No. That was not their job at the ranch in the book Of Mice and Men.
Lennie and George's new job was at a ranch in Soledad, California where they worked as ranch hands. The company that provided their job was not specifically mentioned in the book "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.
George feels that because he and Lennie are family he has to protect him. Also he feel sympathy for Lennie whopossesses the mind of a child. One of the book's themes seems to be loneliness so you could argue that Lennie was also George's companion and they live of each other's strength. (I would give a quote but i can't find my book. The answer is somewhere in chapter 1).
George Milton took care of Lennie after Aunt Clara died in "Of Mice and Men". They traveled together and worked odd jobs on ranches, with George looking out for Lennie's well-being and trying to keep him out of trouble.
George has two personalities. He is very compassionate about Lennie as he genuinely cares for him, however, he is also very harsh as he tells Lennie off for a lot of things.
