The following answer is written from a Christian's perspective and sites verses from both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
The following is the Mystery or Mysteries of Faith as I understand it (them). I pray you are edified by my 17 year research on this topic.
The word mysteriesappears 5 times in the New Testament while the word mysteryappears 22 times. (New King James Version)
It is used by Jesus and the apostle's John and Paul. John only uses it in the book of Revelations, while Paul uses it throughout his writings.
The mysteries of faith are a series of mysteries mostly referred to by the Apostle Paul in the Holy Bible. They are mysteries revealed by revelation of the Holy Spirit regarding principles as to how to operate in the kingdom of God.
And He said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables,12 so that 'Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.'"
Mark 4:11-12 NKJV
Jesus' use of the word mystery is the first clue as to its definition. He makes the above statement just prior to revealing the meaning of the Sower and Seed parable. He is about to explain what I believe to be the key to the Mysteries of Faith. "The seed is the Word of God" or what God is saying to man. Then He deals with how people respond to it. These two dynamics ultimately reveals what is meant by the mysteries offaith.
In order to comprehend the mysteries or principles of faith one must first understand what faith is and how it operates.
Faith is what God says. In the beginning, prior to the creation of Adam (man), FAITH worked exclusively through the cooperation of God (the Father) the Word (Christ) and the Holy Spirit.
God being the grand architect and infinite engineer of all elements of the created Universe, would establish that all his ideals would become material or physical in nature through the cooperation of the Word and Spirit.
Faith or the Word, existing with Him in the beginning, would be the agent or mechanism through which His ideas would be expressed in audible form. Upon the audible expression of God's thoughts, the creative force know as the Holy Spirit would instantly bring into existence what the Word verbalized. Such as "Let there be light!"
Everything in the Universe was created this way. God + Word + Spirit = physical manifestation.
THE MYSTERY OF FAITH or core mystery, upon which all the MYSTERIES of faith hang, is as follows.
The mystery of faith referred to by the Apostle Paul deals exclusively with the insertion of man into the faith equation. Upon the creation of Adam, God endowed dominion or authority over all the works of His hands. Meaning He delegated authority over all facets of Earth to Adam. The result of this would forever mean God would have to gain man's cooperation in order to operate or unfold His will on Earth.
This new equation looks like this: God + Word + Man's cooperation + Spirit = physical manifestation on Earth.
From that point forward, man's obedience to God's will would be imperative if it was to be manifested on Earth. Of course, Adam's fall resulted in a separation of God and His ability to work efficiently on planet Earth through man. Largely because Adam became alienated or disconnected from the Voice or Words of God, rendering a breakdown in the equation
This equation however, was reestablished when the Word became flesh and dwelt again on Earth through the Second Adam or Jesus.
The Mysteries or Mystery of Faith is man's obedience to the Voice of God resulting in the activation of Jesus Christ within him equaling a physical manifestation of the will of God on Earth. The very thing intended for Adam in the beginning.
I greater breakdown of this question is answered in a newly released book called Unveiled Faith by Wade Hurt. It is available through Tate Publishing.
