Ah, what a delightful memory! Annabeth affectionately calls Percy "seaweed brain" in the very first book of our adventures, "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief." It's a charming nickname that reflects their playful banter and deep friendship. Just like happy little trees in a painting, their bond grows stronger with each adventure they embark on together.
because she likes him and he does not figure it out until the fifth book
Probably something with "Seaweed Brain" in it because Annabeth always calls him that instead of his real name. Actually, that is not true. Seaweed Brain is Annabeth's nickname for Percy when she's exasperated with him.
seaweed brain
Smart Girl. He thought that was the best thing he could come up with. Wise girl, Percy excuses is bad choice of nickname by saying that her mom being Athena didn't give him much room for creativity, he did consider Owl face.
Percy likes Annabeth because she is brave, and intelligent. In the Battle of the Labyrinth, Percy states that Annabeth is stubborn, which means she won't accept an easy answer even though it would get her in big trouble. That's one of the things that he liked best about Annabeth. Also, in the last book Percy says that he always thought Annabeth was cute but that now he thought that she was beautiful in the beginning of the last book.
Perseus Jackson, or as annbeth calls him, Seaweed Brain
In The Lighting Thief, Annabeth first to disliked Percy, but in the 2nd book,The Sea of Monsters , she start to like him as a friend. At the end of the book Annabeth kissed Percy for winning a chariot race. In the 3rd book, The Titian's Cursed , Aphrodite told Percy that he have a little feeling for Annabeth while in a junkyard. In the 4th book, The Battle of The Labyrinth , after having an argument with Annabeth, she kissed him. It happened on page 203. According to Annabeth's guess, she thinks Percy will be dead. In the 5ft book,The Last Olympian , It was Percy's birthday so Annabeth and Tyson baked a cupcake. The page was 372-374. When they (Percy and Annabeth) decided to celebrate his birthday privately she put her hands around Percy's neck and spoke "I am never ever going to make things easy for you, Seaweed Brian. Get used to it." and kissed Percy. His thought said 'I had the feeling my brain was melting through my body.' Then another kiss in the camp canoe lake when Clarisse threw them both in there. Percy made an air bubble (son of Poseidon). And described it as 'The best underwater kiss ever.'Annabeth also get extremely jealous when Rachel Elizabeth Dare is hanging around with Percy. Also with Calypso, who always fell in love with any heroes who come to her island. Not just Annabeth who gets jealous, Percy did too. When Annabeth talking about Luke, Percy just gets jealous. When Annabeth was little, she have a HUGE crush on Luke, but then he turned evil. At the end Luke asked Annabeth if she loved him. Her answer was 'No' She told Luke that she always think of him as a brother. And that her true love have always been Percy. In The Lost Hero , she actually date him.
Personally, I don't think they do. There are books where rivals actually like each other but those are just like teasing and arguments. For example Annabeth calls Percy "Seaweed brain" to mock him for being a son of Poseidon. What Dan and Natalie have is a real rivalry.
They don't kiss in the movie or in the book. In the second book Annabeth kisses Percy on the cheek, and the movie hasn't come out yet.
"Always, Always have a plan."--Annabeth Chase(most popular quote)"I've been waiting a long time for a quest, seaweed brain. Athena is no fan of Poseidon, but if you're going to save the world, I'm the best person to keep you from messing up."--Annabeth Chase (from the Lightning thief)
Yes. Percy and Annabeth disliked each other when they first met (only because their parents Athena and Poseidon have a rivalry) but soon grow fond of each other. Aphrodite has told him that they will have a 'tragic love life'. Annabeth has kissed him four times, once, after winning the chariot race in Sea of Monsters, though that was only on the cheek, again as she leaves him to fight the telekhines at Mt. St. Helen's in The Battle of the Labyrinth, in the dining area of Camp Half-Blood, prior to all other campers throwing them in the canoe lake in The Last Olympian, and finally underwater in the The Last Olympian . Also, Annabeth is known to be jealous of Rachel, the clear-sighted mortal girl because Percy spends a lot of time hanging out with her.Annabeth seems to have hinted quite a bit that she is interested in Percy, and it seems to not matter to her that Athena does not approve of them even as just friends. In the Last Olympian, when Percy and Annabeth are inspecting the cabins, she tries to hint that she loves him, but Percy, suddenly nervous, changes the subject, leaving Annabeth disappointed. When Percy bathed in the River Styx, he is supposed to envision the one thing that keeps him tied to the mortal world. He thinks of Annabeth pulling him out of the water at Camp Half-Blood's canoe lake. When Percy is offered immortality by the gods for saving Olympus, he looks over at Annabeth and recognizes the same kind of fear in her eyes that Percy probably had while thinking Annabeth was going to join the hunters. He turns the offer down, and Annabeth put her hands over her mouth silently crying tears of joy.Later at camp, he confides to her the vision he had at the Styx and the reason he turned down immortality. He looks over at her and she was smiling. He tells her that she is not making it easy, but Annabeth indicates that she will never make life easy for him, calling him "seaweed brain" and then kissed him. They were than interrupted by nosy campers, and were thrown into the lake. Percy made a underwater bubble, and they continued to kiss underwater. He described it as "Pretty much the best underwater kiss of all time."After the 2 weeks of extra camp, Percy and Annabeth are seen together running down the hill from Camp Halfblood. For the first time, Percy did not look back.
She is at first intolerant towards Percy, often arguing with him. Over the course of the book, she starts to soften up however. She is often the one to get to explain everything to Percy and is shown to have the ability to use her brain to get the group out of jams.
