Well, they had to get through obstacles, including a wire fence. They get to a window and hoist Dill up, but he cannot see in. Then, Scout sees a shadow coming toward them. They take off running, and hear a shotgun fired. Jem's pants get caught on the fence, so he slips out of his pants and leaves them there.
