The head of the ghost of Christmas past carried a candle extinguisher. His head bore a flame which he explains is to help Scrooge see into the dark areas of his past. Scrooge becomes emotional and does not want to show his feelings so attempts to use the hat to put out the light so stopping visions of his pasted being seen.
he pulled the covers over his head.
He (Fred) loved and felt sorry for Uncle Ebenezer and swore to continue to ask him to join he and his wife every Christmas despite the fact that Scrooge had cut him off without a penny. Scrooge was later to hear when the ghost of Christmas Past took him to Fans home his sister Fan beg him on her death-bed to are for "her boy" and this is the very first time that Scrooge realises what errors he has made
Fan was Fred's mother but died giving birth to him and Ebenezer Scrooge never forgave Fred for it. Just like Ebenezer's mother died giving birth to him, and just like Scrooge never forgave Fred for 'killing' Fan, his father never forgave Scrooge either.
There were only three ghosts (the ghosts of past, present, and future). And they showed Scrooge how mean he was being and how less fortunate others were than him during the holidays. The ghosts taught Scrooge to be nicer and to care about others more.Actually there were four ghosts. Most people forget that Marley was a ghost, and he taught Scrooge the same lesson as the other three that was explained wonderfully above. Marley, Scrooges deceased business partner, showed Scrooge his chains, each link representing a cruel deed done while he was alive. This was Scrooge's future, weighed down by chains forever, if he didn't change his ways.
Scrooge tries to put out the light by, putting an extinguisher cap on it and in the book and in the movies he does not succeed. The light symbolizes the truth which is why he can't get rid of the light because you can never extinguish the truth.
I believe it was because Scrooge did not celebrate Christmas, ergo (therefore) he had no Christmas; and you cannot show what is not. Just like the third spirit did not show Scrooge how it would be if he changed, because that part of Scrooge's life had not been written. He could only be shown what was going to happen. As a matter of fact all the scenes that showed Scrooge how things had turned out were not presented to him as this is how your life will be if you change. The future for those were for others and not him. He threw away those ties long ago and can never go back. He can only deal with his present and try to make amends. I hoped this helped.
A theme is a moral message in a story format. In "A Christmas Carol" Scrooge is a hard hearted old man who only cares about money and nothing else. He soon learns about himself and how he acts. The theme of this story is that money should not matter and it should not take control of your life. This message relates to Scrooge and you will learn why. At work his employee Bob Cratchit would shiver all day because Scrooge refused to buy heating coals for a fire. Bob was his employee after Jacob Marley had passed away. Marley was Ebenezer Scrooge's equally greedy partner. He soon hoped to save Scrooge from suffering a similar fate. Thereafter 3 ghots visit Scrooge and each shows the hardened Ebenezer visons of his past and issues taht drove him to his present life. The last ghost gives sScrooge the final opportunity to change by showing him what potentially will happen should he continue on his present course. Scrooge is terrified of dting a lonely old man and sees now how he is some small part could change the lives of those around him by caring and sharing. Scrooge gives an oath that he will keep Christmas in his heart should he be allowed to try again and in doing so is given the second chance
The first ghost represents "The Ghost of Christmas Past" The first ghost is like a child and not a child dressed in a white robe. This represents innocence and purity (as children are) The second ghost represents "The Ghost of Christmas Present" This ghost is dressed in a green robe with white fur, and a holly wreath and he comes with a scabbard with no sword and with a huge feast. This ghost seems more jovial and kingly. He represents generosity and plenty. He also represents power (the wreath and robes) but at the same time peace (no sword in his scabbard) The third ghost represents "The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come" He appears in a black hooded cloak and the only feature that is visible is a long bony arm. This ghost represents death as he appears like the grim reaper. He has no defining features other than his arm which may mean that just like the future, it is not defined.
Scrooge regrets how he mistreated others, neglected relationships, and prioritized money over compassion and kindness. He sees the opportunities he missed to bring joy to others and is deeply saddened by the consequences of his selfishness. Ultimately, he realizes the importance of love and generosity in life.
n stave one he sees a myriad spirits moaning and groaning as they try to get to those living people in view to help them. Many Scrooge recognises as business people. These too, like Marley were doomed to walk the earth in everlasting torment
The first spirit was Jacob Marley. He had died seven years earlier. He was the only friend of Ebenezer Scrooge as well as his business partner. He stated he had forged a chain so heavy that he was to carry with him in the after life and further punishment for his failure to see mankind as his business and not just making money. He had been granted one visit to the living world to try and change Scrooges ways and help him avoid the same after life fate of eternal torment . In doing so he was to foretell of three further spirits who would show Scrooge the mistakes he'd made and allow him the opportunity to change
