Lennie kills his puppy by accident and then kills curley's wife by accident trying to keep her quiet. George then tells Lennie to meet him at the lake (from the beginning) but when the other ranch hands find her dead they go on a man hunt to hurt Lennie. So George finds him first and shoots him to protect him

What was Geroges reaction when he found out about Curleys wife death?

Well I just finished watching and reading the book I think George's reaction was pretty much upsetting because know he knows Lennie's going to get hurt and they wont be able to have there own ranch and he knows that if Lennie has to die it has to be George who kills him ( FLASHBACK::: When Candy's Dog was killed Candy wishes it was himself that killed the dog and not some stranger who did) So pretty much what I'm trying to say here is that George NEEDED to be the one who killed Lennie instead of some stranger.. yeah but umm I hope this kinda sorta helped :) :) :)

How is Candy relationship with his dog reflective of George's relationship with Lennie?

Did you know what does Candy's dog death and george kills Lennie death have in common?

Have you ever lost someone you loved? Well in Of Mice and Men there were 2 men how didn't like Candy dog. They only didn't like the dog because it was old & smelly. So Candy let one of them to kill his dog. Then later Candy felt bad because he let someone he doesn't know to let him kill the dog. Then there were 2 friends called Lennie & Gorge who trusted each other. But in the end Gorge kills Lennie because he didn't want to do the same mistake that Candy did with his dog.The deaths of Candy's dog & Lennie are the same because they got shoot on the head with the same gun, they both where sick, one is mentally & the other physically, & detente see it coming. The things that Candy's dog & Lennie have in comment. The death of Candy's dog is corresponding to the final section when George shoots Lenny in the back of the head just like Carlson does to the dog. It's also shows the hierarchy of power on the ranch as Candy is seen to have little power and Carlson takes advantage. They both were sick. The dog was physically &Lennie is mentally. Lennie is mentally sick because in the book he killed. They got shoot on the head with the same gun. Guys that Canady didn't know kill his dog & then George stilled the gun from them to kill Lennie, like when it side in the book (I don't want that dog stank in up are bunk) & that is what they have in comment. The things thatCanady's dog & Lennie don't have in comment. They got kill in different times. The dog die first then Lennie die after a few days later. They got kill at different places. The dog got kill inside the bunk & Lennie got kill outside because Gorge told him (Lennie if you do something bad hide at the blush) & that is what they have in different. It is because he feels that the dog isn't good for anything, it stinks, and he should be put out of his misery and because the dog is too old, it stinks, and couldn't barely even walk or eat. George killed Lennie, because he did not want Lennie to suffer at the hands of Curly. Curly said that he would shoot him, if he found him. So George did not want Lennie to suffer that way. Also Slim had said that if for some reason they did find Lennie and took him alive that it would be no good for him to be locked up in some room. Slim was referring to locking Lennie up in a mental hospital. So George has always done what is best for Lennie, so he did it again. He made sure that Lennie had no pain, he told Lennie to think of the land and the rabbit. George made sure he shot him right in the spine and the neck to make a instant death with no pain. The things thatCanady's dog & Lennie have to do something to be killed. They did something to die because Lennie killed carry's wife & the dog was old & was stinking up the bonk. Lennie was dumb & the dog smells. They didn't desorb to be killing. The dog was just old & Lennie kill Carly's wife. The dog got kill inside the bunk & Lennie got kill outside. And that is what they have in different. So can you relate to the story to the real world?By a 7th grader

Why did George kill Lennie in the book Of Mice and Men?

The ultimate reason why George killed Lennie is because George knew that it was more humane to end Lennie's life quickly, the police or others like Curley who wanted revenge not justice might not be as merciful and quick so George did what he thought was right. George loved Lennie, but he knew that, although Lennie had a tender and innocent manner, he could be violent. George new that Lennie could get uncontrollable, somewhat like a wild animal. He murdered a girl and even though Lennie didn't understand what he did, he would have to answer for her death it isn't like the mice or the puppy that could just be replaced. George just couldn't turn Lennie over to the police, he knew that Lennie wouldn't be able to handle being separated from him. Even though Lennie was slower than George, he still had a big heart. Also it was a symbolism of George killing his dream of owning a ranch and it was linked to the way Candy had let his dog be shot when it was doing more bad than good. Candy said he should have shot the dog himself and George remembered this and new he had to do it himself. It was a more humane way of killing Lennie than him being lynched, George recognized this and ended Lennie's life with respect and dignity.

Why does george killed leenie in the book of mice and men?

George realized that if he left Lennie at the brush, Curley would come after Lennie and torture him before murdering him in the most brutal way possible. Don't then say "And why didn't George just run away with Lennie?" He didn't because Curley is bloodthirsty and will stop at nothing to kill Lennie. The way I see it, the brush is relatively close to the ranch, and Curley will be there in a few moments. George had no time to run away. George knew as well that if he somehow managed to help Lennie escape, Lennie will definitely get himself into trouble again, as we see as a consistent theme running through the book. George shoots Lennie in the back of the head - the same way Candy's dog was killed. Both acts were viewed as ones of kindness, as neither Lennie nor Candy's dog would be able to survive in a world where the mighty rule the meek. Especially not during the time of the Depression.

What is so important about candys dogs death in of mice and men?

John Steinback used it as a foreshadow of Lennie's death. In the book, Candy says, "I ought to of shot that dog myself, George. I shouldn't ought to of let no stranger shoot my dog." Near the end of the book, that is exactly how George feels about Lennie. George knew that Lennie will be punished because Lennie killed Curley's wife, so George just prefers killing Lennie himself.

In the novel 'Of Mice and Men' why does George kill Lennie?

Lennie just had to die and george knew that. it wasn't nesesarily his fault. If Lennie was to die then they would just have to keep running away and hoping for their ranch but it would have never happened. Lennie was like Candy's dog, he just needed to be put out of his misery and candy and george needed a new start. Plus, curley would have killed him in a more violent way. Thus,George didn't want Lennie to be killed but, he thought it was the only way out for Lennie. That's why he was telling him that they were going to have the ranch and tend the rabbits, for he could have a happy death. Then instead a horrifying death.

What does Candy represent in Of Mice and Men?

He represents Candy. The dog was old and useless as Candy will soon become. Candy's dog also represents a symbol for what happened to Lennie. Candy stated, "I ought to have shot that dog myself, Goerge. I shouldn't ought to of let no stranger shoot my dog." George uses this quote as advice about what to do with Lennie after he killed Curley's Wife. George stole Carlsons Luger so that he could be the one to shoot Lennie. As Candy said, George didn't want a stranger to get rid of his best friend. He knew he had to do it himself.

What does slim have that Lennie want?
