The love of a family
In his visit to his boarding school with the ghost of Christmas Past Scrooge sees "a lonely boy" sitting on his own on Christmas Day. His comment under his breath was "poor, poor boy". The boy was SCrooge. He had been abandoned for most of his life in boarding school even at christmas when his friend were home with their families. Later he loses his beloved because of his want for riches and success and then loses his dear sister Fan in child birth (of Fred his nephew) . These points harden him as he passes through life. He devoted himself to work, to not letting other in his life as in doing so makes him vulnerable and he dos not want the pain of loss anymore
The spirit took Scrooge to a number of Christmas gatherings, including the festivities of an isolated community of miners and a party aboard a ship. He also takes Scrooge to Fred's Christmas party, where Scrooge loses himself in the numerous party games and has a wildly entertaining time, though none of the party guests can actually see him.
Ebenezer Scrooge fills his heart with greed and material wealth instead of love after he loses his compassion and kindness towards others.
