Depends on the report you are doing. If its a report for your boss... just get to the point He/She wants to know details and doesnt wanna spend time reading extra stuff. If it is a school report then use a story to illustrate the thing you are presenting. It is good to attract the attention of the reader. Especially if the reader is your teacher who is going to be grading it.
