After each days work Scrooge would walk to an Inn he frequented. He would purchase a bowl of soup and one piece of bread at the cost of one half penny and look through his banking book for that day. He would then walk home to his home which was originally Marley's town house and which Scrooge took ownership after Marley's death and turned it in to a wine warehouse, flats and offices. He he would light his singular candle (a dip) and eat some gruel which his housekeeper left next to the meagre coal fire for him. He would then go to bed.
