Pen could imply the number five as in Pentagon, Pentax ( the camera has a pentagonal prism) and other usage. Dragon is obviously the reptilian monster, maybe Five Dragons, a logical guess. it is usually pronounced- Pen-Draggun, and does not emphasize the sound of dragon.

I've never heard of Ulter Pendragon. Maybe you mean Uther Pendragon. In Arthurian legend, Uther is King Arthur's father.
